Welcome
to
the Chapel of Our Lady,
Rotherham's Chapel
on the Bridge
Rotherham's
Chapel on the Bridge is one of only four surviving medieval
bridge chapels in the country. It was the town gaol between
1777 and 1826 - and we still have the original cell doors
with graffiti carved by the prisoners.
The chapel
was expertly restored in the 1920's. A new stained glass window
was installed in 1975, charting the history of the building.
